I FLOW
10.13.2020
Each week I discuss my work statement from my men's group here through prose, poems, music and photos.

This week's work statement comes as I continue to focus my awareness around how I stay centered when challenges come at me...or how I become uncentered.

With dance, flow is essential. When someone says they can't dance, it means they just haven't found flow yet. Discipline and Surrender are near opposites, which is why it feels so paradoxical to say you must feel them both to experience flow. Yet, we all know what this feels like, the moment between over-thinking and under-thinking -- a bodily reaction that comes from deep experience or wisdom or something else that we can't explain. Dancers are constantly tapping into this as they flail, pop, leap and tumble. It looks calculated but it's actually a combination of a happy accident and preparation.
So the key is having this in my awareness, this is the lens I wear this week. Where's my discipline? Where's my surrender, or, where am I still holding on or resisting? Just noticing, taking note, correcting course and expecting to fall again. Because it's a process, it's a workout.
